Using SFTP
The SFTP protocol can be used to exchange both inbound and outbound messages.
Different scenarios
Your choice of scenario depends on whether or not you have an SFTP server, and are willing to allow our SFTP client processes to connect to it. If so, scenario 1 or 3, in which we upload/download files is for you. If not, scenario 2 requires you to upload outbound files to our own SFTP server, and download inbound files from our SFTP server.
Scenario 1: Montova pushes, you push
This is our preferred scenario. We recommend this because all parties can actively monitor the outbound message flows.
Montova uploads your inbound files to your SFTP server.
You upload your outbound files to the Montova SFTP server.
Scenario 2: You push & pull
You download your inbound files from the Montova SFTP server.
You upload your outbound files to the Montova SFTP server.
Scenario 3: Montova pushes & pulls
We advise against using this scenario for business-critical messages, as Montova cannot monitor the remote file server for stuck files.
Montova uploads your inbound files to your SFTP server.
Montova downloads your outbound files from your SFTP server.
